Gardener
Are you listening?
The rhubarb has asked for you and just now, the hummingbird. The roses, they’ve sent you invitations, perhaps they’ve been lost in the mail. Are you eating well?, the sage wonders and the mint asks about your posture. Why might you be frowning?, dandelions are the nosiest creatures. They nudge for little things in want of doing not for tasking in the name of tasking, but simply for the sake of a little living: a dog wants to be walked; a camellia, to be pondered; and grass, to be napped in. That device hasn’t de-viced you or devised a better way of being- it’s just divided intention from attention and reduced meditations into mediations. Your neighbor’s forsythia hangs over the fence wondering if you can shake off your caffeine jitters to come out and look for shapes in the clouds or simply enjoy just being together.
